US: Wall St opens higher as some chip stocks bounce back after selloff

Wall Street’s main indexes opened higher on Thursday (Apr 18) as some chip stocks rebounded, while investors digested commentary from Federal Reserve officials to ascertain the outlook for interest-rate cuts.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 93.90 points, or 0.25 per cent, at the open to 37,847.21.

The S&P 500 opened higher by 9.31 points, or 0.19 per cent, at 5,031.52, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 22.32 points, or 0.14 per cent, to 15,705.70 at the opening bell. REUTERS
