US officials take hard stance against China's Belt and Road Initiative

A SENIOR US official warned on Monday that China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is one that "specifically isolates countries that have tremendous resources that are of interest to China" and may undermine the national sovereignty of countries that commit to it.
Bonnie Glick, Deputy Administrator for the US Agency for International Development, said this in response to a Vietnamese journalist's question on developing economies' concern about the "China debt trap" during a media roundtable session on the sidelines of the Indo Pacific Business Forum 2019.
