Goals galore: football's memorable lopsided matches
Wins by unusually large margins are great for the victors and neutrals, but agonising for the losers
FOOTBALL fans did a double take when they woke up last Saturday morning to the news that Leicester City had scored a whopping nine goals without reply against Southampton in the English Premier League (EPL).
Not only did it match the biggest winning margin in England's top division, the Foxes' (Leicester's nickname) win was all the more impressive given that they achieved the feat at Southampton's home stadium, albeit against an opponent that played most of the match with one man less.
Still, these are all professional players involved in one of the most competitive leagues in the world and it is quite astonishing to see such lopsided games these days.
