Head to the Botanic Gardens for a celebration of German-Singaporean cultural and diplomatic ties. The Beethoven im Garten open-air concert features Maestro Kahchun Wong conducting 16 principal musicians of the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra and the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory Orchestra in a performance of Beethoven's 6th Symphony, also known as the Pastoral Symphony. Trained in both Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music and Berlin's Hanns Eisler Academy of Music, Wong has been Nuremberg Symphony's chief conductor since 2017, having impressed judges and taken the top prize at the Gustav Mahler Competition in 2016. He has conducted the New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo and Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestras, among many others. The Beethoven im Garten concert is an initiative of the German Embassy in partnership with the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music and the Nuremberg Symphony.

Beethoven im Garten 2019 takes place at the Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage, Singapore Botanic Gardens, on Oct 5 at 6pm. Picnic grounds open from 5pm. Free.
