All Hail Queen Bey
By now, Beyonce's live performance at Coachella 2018 is the stuff of legends. Some pundits call it the "performance of the decade", while others have described it as simply "masterful". If you haven't watched and rewatched the dozens of bootleg Youtube clips shot and uploaded by fans, then you should catch Netflix's new concert documentary Homecoming, directed by Beyonce herself.
Homecoming is also the title of the live album released simultaneously, and features behind-the-scenes footage, rehearsal shots, quotes from famous black figures, as well as the concert itself. Oddly, while the Netflix special is very good, you should augment your viewing experience with the YouTube bootlegs. There's something about the raw audience euphoria captured on smartphone cameras shooting from the pit that's missing from the all-too-slick concert documentary.
Homecoming is streaming on Netflix.
