IT WAS A SAD DAY in April 2018 when Thin Huat, a family-run provision shop at Tanglin Halt, closed its doors after serving the community for over five decades.

High operating costs, the proprietors getting on in years, and competition from supermarkets all led to its closure. And on the last week of operations, elderly residents and regular customers flocked the place, taking photographs of their beloved neighbourhood shop.

The shophouse has since been turned into a community museum. Called Museum @ My Queensto…
