SBF Foundation marks 10th year with more initiatives to help society
SBF Foundation, the social impact arm of the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), marked its 10th anniversary on Tuesday (Nov 28) with the launch of three key projects aimed at creating positive social impact.
The first comprises The Corporate Purpose Initiative (TCPI) and the convening of The Corporate Purpose Roundtable (TCPR) with strategic donors and partners.
TCPI, which represents the next lap for the foundation, aims to be the platform for businesses to come together and co-create or co-curate, and to scale new and existing programmes to address gaps in the system that have potential to be social-impact multipliers.
TCPR is for strategic donors and partners to share expertise and experiences.
Janet Ang, deputy chairman of SBF Foundation, said: “We hope that many more companies will join in this collective effort to help give a lift to the ‘S’ in ‘ESG’ and, together, create positive social impact.”
The foundation’s second project is a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed with SBF and the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre. The MOU aims to promote a business community driven by corporate purpose for social impact.

The third initiative to mark the anniversary was the presentation of a cheque for S$6.2 million to the Lee Kuan Yew Centennial Fund, a ground-up initiative by business leaders to invest in and support the development of Singapore youth into visionary leaders.
The sum was a combined contribution from SBF, SBF Foundation, the American Chamber of Commerce, British Chamber of Commerce, China Enterprises Association, the European Chamber of Commerce and the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce, and local businesses.
The foundation celebrated their milestone at a gala dinner that was graced by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Lawrence Wong.
“The SBF Foundation has come a long way in the past 10 years, advancing the culture of corporate giving and contributing to many causes in Singapore. I am confident the SBF Foundation will continue to play a vital role in rallying businesses to give back to the community,” said Wong.
“For our country to remain strong and united, everyone plays a key role – not only the government, but also employers, workers and businesses. We look forward to working with all of you to write our next chapter of the Singapore Story, and to continue our journey of nation-building together.”
The theme of the celebration was “Weaving a Resilient Community”, in recognition of the impact that Singapore’s business community can have on society.
SBF Foundation chairman Hsieh Fu Hua said: “Each organisation has the power to make an impact. Besides money, giving can be in the form of time, skills, advice or even helping others to forge networks. The important thing is how we come together to create a sustainable, positive change.”
To date, more than 6,900 individuals and 1,200 business leaders have benefited from the work of SBF Foundation and the support of the business community.
