Patron Saint
If you're heading to Malacca this weekend, pop into The Majestic Malacca for the Kristang celebration of San Pedro. The Kristang are a creole ethnic group of mixed Portuguese and Malaccan heritage, and they pay homage to St Peter, the patron saint of fishermen through Festa San Pedro or Feast of St Peter. While the annual celebration is a religious affair, it is also seen as a way to keep traditional rituals alive. On June 29, guests can tuck into classic dishes such as Soy Limang Terung (eggplant with lime sauce) and Kari Debal (Devil's Curry). Local Kristang dance troupe Dommarina will also be performing folk dances. San Pedro's Night at The Majestic Malacca is priced at MYR638 (S$208) inclusive of dinner for two, a 50-minute San Pedroinspired spa treatment for one, breakfast and accommodation for two in a deluxe room. Alternatively, dinner is priced at MYR 180 nett per person.
