New distancing rules could be last straw for some businesses

They fear they'll go under without lifelines, and hope customers and landlords will share the burden

THE latest social-distancing measures to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus may deal another heavy blow to frontline businesses already battered by the outbreak.

The Ministry of Health on Friday announced stricter "safe-distancing measures" for events, public venues such as food and beverage (F&B) outlets and workplaces. The measures include suspending events and gatherings with 250 or more participants, and separating patrons by at least a metre at public venues.
