Pandemic hits 2020 telco roaming revenue

THE impetus for telcos to turn a profit from 5G comes after a hard year. GSMA Intelligence, the research arm of the international industry association, found that telecom revenues in higher-income countries took a hit of 4 per cent to 8 per cent.
Telcos reported low roaming income, fewer handset upgrades, and subdued business and consumer sentiment from customers, GSMA said.
