THE Ministry of Manpower (MOM) announced on Tuesday that 384 more dormitories have been cleared of the novel coronavirus.

The dormitories comprise one purpose-built dormitory (PBD), 345 factory-converted dormitories and 38 construction temporary quarters.

In addition, 23 blocks for recovered workers in five PBDs have also been cleared.

With the latest numbers, 625 dormitories and 44 blocks for recovered workers in 17 PBDs have been cleared of the Covid-19 virus.

About 180,000 workers have either recovered or tested negative for the virus as at July 6, MOM said in its statement.

Some workers are pending movement to appropriate accommodations before they resume work. Others can return to work once dormitory operators, employers and workers have completed the required steps to minimise the risk of new infections when the workers go back to work  daily.

MOM said that most of the dormitories in the last two batches of cleared dormitories completed the steps in a week or less.

MOM is also rolling out improved features on the SGWorkPass mobile app from July 12 to provide more information to employers and workers, as well as to streamline the colours of its AccessCode feature to facilitate workers' returning to work.

Employers will be able to check the AccessCode details of their workers through the new Safe@Work Service, to be launched on MOM's website on July 12. The self-help service will enable employers to check whether conditions have been met for their workers to resume work.
