THE adage "use things, not people" has been repeated countless times, but funnily enough, it often falls on deaf ears, especially in the office.
After all, how long have we observed that the best performers are rewarded with more work? Or that the quieter, more pliant employees tend to shoulder more of the dirty work since they won't kick up a fuss?
