KEPPEL, together with its partner Envision, sent care items including surgical masks, thermometers and personal protection equipment to the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore (CPAS) on Friday.

The initiative will continue over the next two weeks of August, and a total of 50,000 packs among other items will be distributed to social service agencies such HELP Family Service Centre, and Boy's Town.

Loh Chin Hua, CEO of Keppel Corporation, said: "Keppel is committed to caring for and nurturing communities wherever we operate. Covid-19 has disrupted and impacted many lives, especially the most vulnerable in our community. In challenging times such as these, we are glad to extend our business partnership with Envision to doing good together and providing assistance to communities affected by Covid-19."

Lei Zhang, CEO of Envision Group, said: "In the face of a global crisis brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, no country, company or individual can stand alone. In the same way we are fighting against the climate change crisis, we are committed to using our resources to fight the coronavirus pandemic and help build a sustainable future. In March, to help meet global demand for increased and rapid production of surgical masks, we set up the Envision Smile Manufacturing Centre and donated over six million masks to our partners worldwide. We will continue to work closely with our partners to address the global surge in demand for medical protective gear."

Latha Kutty, executive director of CPAS, said: "As a social service agency, Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore relies on the strong support of the community to serve over 700 children and adults with cerebral palsy or multiple disabilities. We are touched by the care and concern shown to us by corporate sponsors like Keppel, who thoughtfully donated a list of essential items such as masks, thermometers and hand sanitisers with mosquito repellent, which has come to us at a perfect time, relevant to the Covid-19 and dengue situation."

Since the start of the pandemic, Keppel has committed over S$5 million to provide support to communities affected by the pandemic in Singapore and overseas.

In celebration of National Day this year, Orange Valley Nursing Homes is also donating assistive devices and face masks to the underprivileged through its corporate social responsibility outreach initiative, Protecting You & Our Community. This is aimed at creating awareness of the importance of safeguarding the health and well-being of the elderly and children, the two most vulnerable groups in the society.

Kicking off Orange Valley's new CSR programme is a donation of approximately S$30,000 - which includes 134 assistive devices, like wheelchairs and walking aids for selected elderly beneficiaries, and 2,000 reusable fabric masks to be distributed to children aged three to seven residing in Taman Jurong.

The assistive devices will be given out by Taman Jurong Community Club to senior citizens in need, while some 2,000 preschoolers from childcare centres and kindergartens in the constituency will each receive a reusable fabric mask customised for young children.

Goh Peng Tong, chairman of Taman Jurong Citizens' Consultative Committee , said: "On behalf of the residents, I would like to thank Orange Valley for their generosity and support as we continue to reinforce our commitment to building a strong, compassionate and inclusive community."

In order to fulfil the large volume of reusable fabric masks required, Orange Valley engaged Connezt Dots, a social enterprise that provides employment to home-based seamstresses from low-income families, and ESTA Signature to produce 2,000 masks together. The reusable face masks and exclusively designed postcards for the children were delivered to Taman Jurong Community Club on Aug 4.
