Hidden Gems
One of the biggest Oscar snubs this year is Uncut Gems (pictured), now streaming on Netflix. Written and directed by the Safdie brothers (Good Time), the dark thriller stars the king of slapstick Adam Sandler in another rare non-comedic role. The film is inspired by the siblings' father who worked in Manhattan's infamous Diamond District, and Sandler plays a jeweller who finds himself in a race against time to raise cash to pay off his gambling debts.
Netflix has also announced that 21 classic Studio Ghibli animated classics will be available on the streaming service from Feb 1. My Neighbour Totoro is one of the first to be released followed by others like The Cat Returns a month later and When Marnie Was There on April 1.
