JB-Singapore RTS Link a key bilateral project that will accelerate regional connectivity
THE festive season at the end of the year is usually when scores of people are travelling, and that includes the thousands of Singaporeans heading across the Causeway each day to visit Johor Bahru and other parts of Malaysia.
And with a large chunk of the 300,000 or so Malaysians who work in Singapore commuting to and fro by land, it’s little surprise that there are massive bottleneck jams at both the Woodlands and Tuas Checkpoints throughout the day.
Last week, the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said it expects to see very heavy traffic at the two land checkpoints until the end of 2023, especially during the two long holiday weekends. It also warned that those who are clearing immigration by car may have to wait for as long as three hours.
