Attorney-General’s Chambers to ‘take a decision’ on Ong Beng Seng after Iswaran’s case
THE Attorney-General’s Chambers will “take a decision in respect of the investigations” against billionaire hotelier Ong Beng Seng after the case against former transport minister S Iswaran has been completed, it said in its response to media queries on Thursday (Jan 18).
Iswaran has resigned as a Cabinet minister and a member of the People’s Action Party. He is also stepping down as Member of Parliament (MP) for West Coast GRC.
He faces 27 charges in court, including corruption, but intends to plead not guilty. Most of the alleged offences involve Ong, who brought Formula One to Singapore in 2008.
Ong is the managing director and co-founder of Hotel Properties Limited : H15 0%.
In July 2023, Singapore’s Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) arrested Iswaran and Ong, who were later released on bail.
After taking a leave of absence, Iswaran was interdicted from duty with a reduced monthly salary of S$8,500 until further notice. However, he continued to receive his MP allowance, as he had not been suspended.

In his resignation, Iswaran informed Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong that he would return all monies received by way of salary as minister and allowances as MP from when the CPIB probe began in July.
