Home's Favourite: from 3 recipes to winning pastries
Singapore
HOME'S Favourite now has a sizeable business retailing its baked goods and exporting them, but the bakery started out with just three recipes and S$30,000 in its arsenal.
Managing director Jason Lee, then 26, quit his engineering job in 1997 to pursue his dream of "sharing (his) mother's cookies and pineapple tarts with all customers". His first retail shop was a 300 sq ft space at a HDB block along Indus Road. His mother passed him her recipes for pineapple tarts, almond cookies and cashew nut cookies.
