Omnisense Systems keeps its cool as fever scanner market heats up
It has ramped up production capacity by five times to meet demand from reputable customers like Changi Airport.
BUSINESS has been brisk for companies selling thermal fever scanners during the Covid-19 pandemic, and Omnisense Systems is no exception, seeing a "manifold" increase in sales of its Sentry MK IV Mass Fever Screening System (MFSS) in recent months.
At end-April, the company had an order book of S$8 million for its systems, according to an announcement by its mainboard-listed majority shareholder BH Global. Omnisense has ramped up its production capacity by five times to meet the demand, and with reputable customers like Changi Airport placing their trust in the product, the MFSS is validating the years of blood, sweat and tears that Omnisense founder and chief executive officer Leonard Lim poured into developing it.
"Some of our customers are really big companies that I would never have imagined buying things from us," said Mr Lim. "(The virus) has been generally a curse to the world, but although we didn't start out to benefit from this, I will admit that we have benefited from this situation."
