Nio delivers 10,055 vehicles in January, up 18% from year-ago period

CHINESE electric vehicle (EV) maker Nio : NIO 0% delivered 10,055 vehicles in January, 18.2 per cent more than the corresponding year-ago period.

The deliveries include 6,307 premium smart electric sport utility vehicles (SUVs) and 3,748 premium smart electric sedans, the company said in a delivery update on Thursday (Feb 1).

As at Jan 31, 2024, the number of vehicles Nio has delivered cumulatively stood at 459,649.

In the update, Nio also announced that it has opened up its power swap network to the entire industry.

In January, it signed strategic partnership agreements with JAC Group and Chery Automobile on battery swapping, following previous partnerships announced with Changan Automobile and Geely Group.

Separately, the company has also in January established Zhongan Energy with other investors, a company which seeks to advance the establishment of an open and shared charging, swapping and energy storage network.

Zhongan Energy targets to build 1,000 battery swap stations in China in the coming years.

“Moving forward, Nio expects to join hands with more partners to collectively contribute towards the development of power network and the wider adoption of battery swapping,” the company said.

Shares of Nio ended Thursday at US$5.62, down 2.9 per cent or US$0.17.
