THE chief executive of Vibrant Group : BIP 0%, Khua Kian Keong, was convicted on of a charge of voluntarily causing grievous hurt, the mainboard-listed company said in a bourse filing on Friday (Aug 4).

This comes more than two years after he pushed the former chairman of KTL Global, Tan Tock Han, down a flight of stairs, causing him to suffer a fracture to his right shoulder. The two men were purportedly in a dispute involving a S$2.4 million debt owed by Tan.

Khua, 55, was convicted under Section 325 of the Penal Code on Thursday. He will return to court for mitigation and sentencing in October, and is “seeking legal advice on his next course of action”, Vibrant Group said.

Those convicted of voluntarily causing grievous hurt can be jailed for up to 10 years, as well as face a fine or caning. Khua cannot be caned because he is above 50 years old.

Vibrant Group said that its board and nominating committee will look into the matter and consider its implications for the company.

Khua has also undertaken to update the board should there be any material development, it added.

Shares of Vibrant Group closed down 8.3 per cent or S$0.006 at S$0.066 on Friday, after the news.
