Raimund Hoghe is one of the world's most famous dance dramaturgs, having worked with legendary choreographer Pina Bausch to conceive her iconic pieces. The hunchbacked 70-year-old man has now teamed up with young Japanese butoh dancer Takashi Ueno to create Pas De Deux, an unusual dance that overturns all notions of elegance and beauty. Hoghe has selected commonplace objects from Japan and choreographed spare and delicate movements around them, giving them new life and meaning. This is the first time Hoghe is appearing in Singapore for Esplanade's da:ns festival.

Pas De Deux runs at the Esplanade Theatre Studio on Oct 18 and 19 at 8pm. Tickets from Sistic.
