IF you've taken a number of Masterclass. com courses, you've probably arrived at a similar conclusion as others have - that watching Wolfgang Puck cook won't earn you a Michelin star, getting tips from Stephen Curry won't help your threepoint shot, and learning acting from Natalie Portman won't get you an invite to the Oscars, let alone that statuette.

For the most part, these A-listers are phenomenal at what they do. But so much of what they do is also instinctive, complex and cannot be really taught in 10 to 15 lessons. They can offer many good tips, but that's about all. Watching a Masterclass becomes more an exercise in getting to know your favourite celebrity better, than actually mastering a skill. Enter Tan France with his new Masterclass. com course titled Style For Everyone, It is so clear, well-designed and helpful that it somehow makes some of the other celebrities look bad. France, who rose to fame as a host of Netflix's makeover series Queer Eye, is easily one of the best instructors the popular platform has ever had.

Over 12 short lessons, France lays out a step-by-step guide to creating a style for yourself, working on the assumption that you know nothing about fashion. And while this can give rise to unintentionally funny moments ("When shopping online . . . key the words into the search engine and you'll find a bunch of options from many companies" - as if you've never touched a computer), much of his advice would be useful to style noobs who don't know the difference between plaids and prints.
